Hyundai Merchant Marine (Netherlands) B.V. - DG Coordinator (Regional European Headquarters)

Hyundai Merchant Marine (Netherlands) B.V. situated in Rotterdam, the Netherlands acting on behalf of our European Headquarters in London UK currently has a vacancy available at its Regional Operations Center (ROC) for an experienced DG Coordinator with additional knowledge/experience to in future also support our team of vessel planners.

The concerned department is situated in our Rotterdam office however covers activities throughout Europe and reports directly to our European Headquarters in London. The concerned department currently exists of 5 persons (3 vessel planners and 2 DG coordinators) with each their own experience and responsibilities.

Considering the dynamic nature of the concerned department, we are looking for a committed, representative candidate with a passion for the business , flexible, immune to stress and perfectly able to perform in a team.


Reason for the vacancy

The vacancy becomes available due to the expansion of the current team.

Function requirements

  • For this function we are looking for a candidate with a general knowledge of the shipping industry.
  • More specific knowledge of the most recent versions of the IMDG codes
  • Good knowledge of Dutch and English (both verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of the various Microsoft Applications


Please refer to the below for a short overview of the main jobs

  • Coordinating requests and approvals for Dangerous Cargo to be loaded on HMM vessels as well on partner vessels within Europe
  • Preparation of DG reporting on behalf of the vessel planners (both HMM and partners)
  • Communication with DG coordinators in other HMM offices and partners
  • Support and advise colleagues from all HMM offices throughout Europe in relation to Dangerous Cargo
  • Keep up to date on any possible adjustments related to (the legislation of) Dangerous Cargo
  • Problem solving in relation to Dangerous Cargo together with booking office or with customers directly


Candidates with also knowledge on the below items are our preference

  • Preparation and execution of the vessel load plans
  • Out of Gauge (OOG) and Break Bulk (BB) Cargo
  • Knowledge of CASP or Stowage Planning Program
  • Discharge/Load EDI files and Terminal vessel plans
  • Gantry program for both Port of Loading (POL) and Port of Discharge (POD)
  • Pre-stowage communication with Terminal Planner
  • Vessel stability and safety requirements during discharge and loading
  • Bay plans for approval of Chief Officer
  • Coordinate berthing windows with Terminal and local operations
  • Keep vessel administration up to date and share with allocation department


Salary and secondary conditions

We offer a competitive salary proper Secondary Conditions amongst which a fixed 13th month, a Pension plan and WIA insurance fully covered by the employer.
