Daily Activities (in random order)

  • Process/act on mutations in the vessel schedule;
  • Make sure the vessel related tasks are performed in a timely manner prior to the arrival of
  • the vessel:
  1. Checking the manifests
  2. UBL
  3. Report to customs
  4. Send notices of arrival to customers with containers on board
  5. Arrange on-carriage
  6. Arrange transhipment and shunts
  • Handle bookings received from clients to book cargo from the RST South to the RST North or between other terminals and arrange shunts;
  • Announce the vessel manifest to customs via Portbase;
  • Forward bookings received direct from the client to book cargo from Spain, Portugal or other Ports of Loading to our colleagues in other OPDR offices;
  • In case needed solve customs (Portbase) clearance differences;
  • Inform stowage positions to the partners whom have Hazardous cargo loaded on board of our vessels;
  • Issue an Empty Return request to ILS (CMA CGM Logistic Department in Antwerp), requesting the depots container need to be returned to and update Softship with the details;
  • Record data in the Vessel Call Sheet to track KPI’s;
  • Request custom documents at our custom agents;
  • Create and send invoices for charges to be paid by the receiver of the cargo, before releasing the container to the receiver;
  • Ensure that the Original Bills of Lading issued for shipments are surrendered prior releasing the container to the receiver;
  • Update Softship with the buying rates for the on-carriage;
  • Check if the cargo booked on third party vessels are actually loaded, or otherwise start actions towards the operator and inform the receiving agents;
  • Create an invoice for demurrage and or storage in case the container remains on the terminal, or in clients possession for a period of time, exceeding the free time determined by OPDR;
  • Create and maintain customer procedures, with the special needs per customer;
  • After the vessel is completed, archive the vessel and update the archive details in the Vessel Call Sheet.



  • Maintaining a professional and friendly relationship with customers;
  • Handle Import cargo within the time frame;
  • Provide authorities with needed information in a timely manner;
  • Finalizing import manifest towards the authorities in time;
  • Sending invoices in time.



  • Maintaining knowledge on (new) regulations related to the maritime industry;
  • Provide ideas for an efficient way of working, including EDI;
  • Recommend improvement possibilities to save cost and/or to increase flexibility;
  • Setting realistic goals to increase the productivity at the department.



We expect the nature of processing information to change drastically over the next 5 to 10 years, resulting in a change of focus from processing data to managing data. Therefore we aim to create multi-functionality at the Operational Export Department and expect our staff to be able to go with that and actively participate in process improvements.

Education and required knowledge and experience

  • Good communication skills;
  • Experience in shipping and/or logistics;
  • Positive attitude with an open mind and a flexible pro-active approach;
  • Fluent in the English language, both verbally and in writing;
  • Familiar with MS Office: in particular a good knowledge of Word and Excel;
  • Knowledge of customs processes & Incoterms;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Problem solving ability.
