BG Freight Line – Tonnage Centre Vessel Planner
BG Freight Line provides a comprehensive range of logistics services to and from Ireland, the UK and continental Europe. These services include door-to-door shipping, feedering and quay-to-quay shipping for all types of containerised cargo. BG Freigt Line is looking for a Tonnage Centre Vessel Planner.
Job description:
As vessel planner, the main task is to prepare accurate pre-stowage’s of containers in all shapes and sizes, for all chartered container vessels in all the ports we call.
You will be part of a versatile team with three other vessel planners reporting to the vessel planning supervisor.
Joint responsibility for optimizing the vessel’s capacity and maximise the profitability of their voyages.
TASKS AND ACTIVITIES:
- Prepare accurate pre-stowage, execute and monitor final stow plan received from the terminals.
- Ensure an avoidance of any unsafe stowage and practices and maintain a safe working relationship with the vessel management.
- Ensure in conjunction with the operations department, a cost effective and efficient port rotation.
- Control, stow and segregate hazardous cargoes as per IMDG and Certificate of Compliance requirements.
- Maintain contact and coordination with captains, offices abroad, agents, colleagues and terminals.
- Administrative processing and control on restows and charges from and to relevant parties.
- Make relevant information and files available in operating systems and where needed to all ports of call in the BG Freight Line service.
- Obtain detailed plans and information needed from additional / ad hoc chartered vessels.
- On a regular basis visit the vessels to improve the long term relationship of trust and share ideas and area’s for improvement.
- Identify and initiate operational savings where possible.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MBO/HBO work level (STC).
- Sound knowledge of Container Line planning operations with thorough understanding of labour resource planning.
- At least two years in a shipping-based environment, including at least two years’ experience of container stowage and vessel stability.
- Competent computer skills and understanding of computer systems, in particular Preplanning modules of all kind and Microsoft Office.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the IMDG code and other national and International legislations.
- Familiarity and understanding of vessels container lashing systems.
- Being stress resistant.
- Willing to work in varying shifts.
- Good verbal and written communication in English.
